Massive industrial extraction and refining inherently demand aggressive, systemic countermeasures to maintain the delicate ecological balance of our operational theatres — particularly the uniquely sensitive Caspian basin ecosystem. Our multi-tiered environmental policy focuses on dramatic reductions in atmospheric emissions, implementation of zero-discharge closed-loop wastewater management, and continuous soil decontamination protocols across all field perimeters.

All core operational facilities are ISO 14001:2015 certified without exception. Through consecutive, highly capitalised technological upgrades since 2018, we have effectively reduced routine gas flaring operations by over 84%, rerouting associated petroleum gas directly into efficient combined-heat-and-power generation for surrounding municipalities — effectively converting a waste stream into a community resource.

Our environmental monitoring network comprises over 200 continuous sensor stations deployed across all production zones, pipeline corridors, and perimeter boundary points. Real-time data streams feed into a centralised environmental operations centre staffed 24/7 by qualified environmental compliance engineers.

ESG & Governance

Absolute administrative transparency is the immutable bedrock of our corporate ethos. Uzen Oilfield is fully and independently audited to ensure complete compliance with the latest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks formally recognised by major global tier-1 financial exchanges, including those of London, Frankfurt, and Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).

Our Governance architecture strictly enforces zero-tolerance international anti-bribery policies under the UN Convention Against Corruption, maintains uncompromising board oversight over capital acquisitions exceeding $1 million, and guarantees total supply-chain traceability from wellhead to export terminal. All ESG performance data is externally validated quarterly and distributed directly to all shareholders and institutional investors.

Community Enrichment

Uzen Oilfield remains functionally and culturally inseparable from the communities of western Kazakhstan where we live and operate. It is our constitutional corporate commitment to channel a meaningful portion of operational revenues directly into lasting local benefits — investing unconditionally in regional education, high-capacity medical infrastructure, cultural vitality, and the long-term prosperity of every municipality within our operational radius.

Over the past decade, we have fully funded five regional technical specialist colleges, constructed two high-capacity municipal hospitals in the Mangystau region, equipped 14 schools with modern science laboratories, and built three Olympic-standard community sports complexes. These are not charitable gestures — they are strategic investments in the workforce, health, and social stability of the region that powers our operations.

Our Community Development Department operates independently with a dedicated annual budget, overseen by a community liaison board that includes elected representatives from the municipalities of Zhanaozen, Aktau, and surrounding settlements. All community investment decisions are subject to independent community needs assessments conducted annually.

The Uzen Oilfield Education Partnership Programme embeds our company directly into the regional technical education pipeline. We co-design curricula with five partner colleges, provide modern equipment at no cost, deliver 40+ industry guest lectures per academic year, and guarantee internship placements for every graduating cohort. Over 78% of our current technical workforce were recruited directly from these partner institutions.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, Uzen Oilfield operates a flagship occupational and community health programme across all municipalities within 50km of our production facilities. Annual free health screenings, mobile medical units serving remote settlements, and toxicology monitoring for residents near operations form the backbone of this initiative.
