Annual comprehensive Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Report. Uzen Oilfield JSC — independently assured by Bureau Veritas Kazakhstan.
Dear shareholders, partners, and the people of Kazakhstan,
Uzen Oilfield occupies a position of privilege within the energy industry — and with that privilege comes one of the most important obligations imaginable: to leave a cleaner, healthier environment as a legacy for the next generation. Our 2026 ESG Report is not simply a collection of statistics — it is a testament to our operational philosophy.
In the past reporting year, we reduced gas flaring by 84%, supported over 650 local families through direct social programmes, and maintained zero fatalities across all production zones. These are not just numbers — they are the tangible fruits of human commitment to doing things right.
We regard transparency and accountability as the very foundation of our business strategy. Through this report, we provide every stakeholder with full, independently verified data on our performance across all ESG dimensions.
Uzen Oilfield, as one of Kazakhstan's most significant petroleum processing complexes, considers environmental responsibility an inseparable component of industrial operations. Our proximity to the Caspian Sea — the world's largest enclosed body of water and home to 90% of the global sturgeon population — creates a uniquely heightened obligation to the marine ecosystem.
All core operational facilities were certified under ISO 14001:2015 by Bureau Veritas Kazakhstan in January 2026, with zero major non-conformities identified. The technology upgrade programme initiated in 2018 has now achieved an 84% reduction in routine gas flaring — associated gas that was previously wasted is now routed to combined-heat-and-power microturbine clusters serving 4,200+ residential units in the Zhanaozen municipality.
The company has made a formal, board-ratified commitment to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions from all operational activities by 2030. This commitment fully aligns with Kazakhstan's Nationally Determined Contribution submitted under the Paris Agreement and the Republic's Carbon Neutrality Plan 2060.
